Suspects Description
Catherine Eddowes, Mitre Square
3 men left Imperial club, Dukes place at about 1.35 am. They noticed a man and woman. The couple were stood talking at corner of St James’s Passage and Mitre Sq. Joseph Lawende, one of the 3 men was able to describe the couple. Eddowes had her back to him, but he identified her later by recognising the clothing she wore. He described her companion thus : “of shabby appearance, about 30 years of age and 5ft. 9in. in height, of fair complexion, having a small fair moustache, and wearing a red neckerchief and a cap with a peak”.
